TWO CREDIT REPORTING AGENCIES OPERATE IN CANADA

There are two principal credit reporting agencies operating in Canada, TransUnion, and Equifax. Creditors report to these agencies, and in turn, utilize the information these agencies compile to assess credit worthiness of their existing and future customers. There is a constant exchange and updating of information provided to the credit agencies on a monthly or a periodic basis, which is added to each individual’s credit profile.

 YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO ACCESS AND RECEIVE FREE CREDIT REPORTS

Under Canadian law, you have a right to access this information and request free credit reports from these agencies.

Consumer-Proposal.org provides printable forms and instructions on how to complete and submit the forms required in order to receive your free credit reports by mail. You can view and access these forms by clicking on the icon for the Credit Reporting Agency you have chosen or would prefer to deal with.

If you would like to receive your credit report sooner than it will take to receive a response by mail, you can, for a nominal cost, purchase and receive your credit report online by accessing or clicking on either one of the website addresses identified below.
